FAQs: If I chose teletherapy, how will I know if it will benefit my child? Your regular therapist will determine if your child’s goals and plan of care is appropriate for this type of service.
How long will sessions last? Sessions will last for 30 minutes and include parent feedback and update of home program.
Do I need to be present for the entire session? This is dependent on your child’s age and what skills they are addressing. Some children will be able to do this independently and you can just be present for the start of the call and the end for feedback. For others, you may need to be present for the entire session.
How does teletherapy work? Due to the current situation with COVID-19, HIPAA restraints have been lifted to perform teletherapy services, all that is needed is a live two-way video. The method of communication will be determined by the therapist and the patient's family. The therapist may request minimal equipment such as paper, pencil, crayons, scissors, etc. The therapist will provide any interactive elements such as a book or flashcards and can email any activities for you to print during the session. Both PT and OT’s may request an open space in your home or yard for therapy.
